All Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder series discussion (spoilers)

Well played, Bass, but you're still wrong for not being a fan of this title. Everyone is, so at least you've got plenty of company on the WRONG side of the tracks. It's kind of lonely here over on the right side, happily reading my All-Star Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder comics.

In fact, anyone who doesn't like this comic can feel free to send me every issue they own of it. In 30 years when every single issue is worth $10,000 (and that's a loose copy, untouched by the swastika-nippled grading nazis at CGC) I will sell them and make a fortune, while still having some left for my personal collection. Afterwards I will invite everyone who sent me their copies over for a dinner party where you can all watch me start a roaring fire using $100 bills... or perhaps $100 Euro notes since I'm not really confident in the performance of the dollar right now. You can ooh and ahh in my bathroom as well, and compliment me on the fine toilet paper made from freshly minted currency from around the world and the platinum, diamond-encrusted toilet seat.

Then you can all marvel at the special guest of honor for that evening, Mr. Frank Miller, as he reads everyone his entire run of ASB&RTBW. Unless he's dead, in which I'll have him exhumed and revived. I mean, who wouldn't want Zombie Frank Miller reading them a story?

Willverine wins this thread.

I am 95% sure that she is a purely Miller creation.

(I mean for heaven's sake, she has giant swastikas instead of bras!)

*Edit---I was just joking about the Plastic-Man part about him showing up ina Batman comic.......but to my insane suprise----MILLER'S ALREADY HAD PLASTIC-MAN SHOW UP!!!! THAT'S HOW ****ING BAT**** CRAZY THIS BOOK IS! I'M SURPRISED ULTIMATE THOR HASN'T SHOWN UP TO PUNCH SUPERMAN WHILE SAYING "THOU HATH BEEN SERVED......VERILY!"

I swear to god, I think I hurt myself laughing at that.

I love how this book is the polar opposite of Allstar Superman.

It'd be great if Batman popped up in All-Star Superman, so we get an 'alternate' view of Batman by a writer that hasn't completely lost it.

Seriously, I just read the issue where Wonder Woman has the meeting with the JLA about what they should do about Batman. Meanwhile, Batman is jumping over the rooftops of Gotham, laughing his head off about how cool it is to be the ******* Batman.

The only thing I can liken this comic to is an extreme polar opposite of the Adam West show. A lot of people are uncomfortable watching that show because it's so campy and silly. I'm even more uncomfortable reading this comic, because Batman is just so damned dark and psychotic.

I refuse to believe that this is the interim period between Year One and DKR. Miller is taking the piss.

Are you talking about the Batman that appears in ASB&RTBW or just an ASSM version of Batman?

I'd like an All-Star Superman version of Batman, the way that there's an All-Star Batman version of Superman. Capiche?

Frank Miller writes All-Star Batman...badly. Grant Morrisson writes All-Star Superman...goodly. Hence, I would like Batman to appear in that title.

Isn't dreaming fun?

How about a comic called All-Star Batman written by Brian Azzarello and drawn by Jim Lee (or, possibly better yet, Azzarello's 100 Bullets partner, Eduardo Risso)?

How about Jim Lee goes and draws animé like he should be doing?

Grant Morrisson's run on Batman over the last year is basically what All-Star Batman should have been; giving a modern spin on a load of the wilder, crazier elements of the Bat-past. That's pretty much what he did for All-Star Superman.

If you ask me, they should have just given All-Star Batman to Denny O'Neil. He understands Batman better than anyone living.

I agree with every single thing you say. Awesome.

I'd like to see Ed Brubaker get his hands on an all-star bat project. That guys fast becoming my favourite author, and he's up there with Miller and Azzarello in terms of "gritty dark noire" - Sleeper and criminal are great, and I just started he's written loads of great bat-books - man who laughs, gotham central, catowoman. I'd like to see him take on say a all-star Martian Manhunter story or something...maybe involving checkmate....It could even follow the exact same spy coming in from the cold angle that sleeper had and I'd love it.
