Guys do we know when Legacy of rust Is set?
Before DOOM 64 for sure. I think I am going to change the Final DOOM episodes and put them in release order with the rest since they seem to have been cemented as just extra episodes for DOOM II.

DOOM + DOOM II DOOM
DOOM + DOOM II SIGIL
DOOM + DOOM II SIGIL II
DOOM + DOOM II DOOM II: Hell on Earth
DOOM + DOOM II Master Levels for DOOM II
DOOM + DOOM II TNT: Evilution
DOOM + DOOM II The Plutonia Experiment
DOOM + DOOM II No Rest for the Living
DOOM + DOOM II Legacy of Rust

Mr. Jozaca, if I can give an assumption for the DOOM Timeline, well, we know that DOOM 3 + DLC ends in 2147 and DOOM (2016) starts in 2149, so I guess DOOM (1993) to DOOM 64 happens in 2148.

While I think that DOOM Eternal is set in 2151 thanks to a codex entry.

Btw Ik that he stayed in hell for Eons, but maybe in Hell and Sentinel Prime time flows differently than the 2 earths.

for Commander Keen both Wolfenstein and DOOM Wiki listes them in their release dates, so.

Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vortigans - 1990
Commander Keen in Goodbye, Galaxy! - 1991
Commander Keen in Keen Dreams - 1991
Commander Keen in Aliens Ate My Baby Sitter! - 1991
Commander Keen - 1991

as for Quake according to the quake wiki, all the events from Quake II to Quake 4 happens in 2079.

and finally I'm sorry but for HeXen/Heretic I couldn't find anything to date them.

Also for Quake, I think there's a Quake Champions comic you're missing.

Also If I can help you with the Playing Order I would combine all the 3 of them, in the end there aren't spoilers shared between the 3 universes so I would do like this:

1. Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders to Wolfenstein.
2. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood to Wolfenstein: Youngblood.
3. Coomander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons to Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition: Return of the Triad.
4. Rise of the Triad.
5. Quake I Enhanced to DOOM 64 The Lost Levels.
6. DOOM VFR to DOOM (2016).
7. Quake Champions to Quake III: Revolution.
8. DOOM Eternal to DOOM Eternal The Ancient Gods - Part Two.

Has interest for this universe completely died off on this forum? Not a single word on The Dark Ages four months after release, nor the brand new Heretic and Hexen remasters with new episodes. Timeline isn't being updated either.

Remastered for Heretic and Hexen? I own the original on steam, do I get them for free?

Also Jozaca will come back on Christmas.

Yep. Just like we got DOOM + DOOM II, now we also have Heretic + Hexen, and I got it instantly without doing anything. Although this time, it's a separate item in your library, not replacing the old ones.

IIRC, the OP is away from the forums until the foreseeable future.

So leaving this for @Jozaca but, well after digging into the wiki DOOM's various timelines, I've come to the conclusion that DOOM 3 is a sequel to DOOM II.

I say this cos, the SIGIL timeline in the wiki it's the closest thing we'll have to an official dating of DOOM.

The wiki tries to justify BJ III appearence in DOOM 3, with the clone theory or time dilatation. Considering that ID confirmed that all DOOM games are canon and the protagonist in all the games is always the Doom Slayer/Guy (aside when stated otherwise), the wiki had come with an explanation, for justify how can BJ III be alive in 2020s and 2145.

They used the time dilatation, but it can't be possible, as the Slayer experience them post DOOM 64, or the second one is that he's a clone.

Tbh the second one makes sense. Infact with that his name makes sense too as we had BJ I in the 1940s, BJ II in the 1990s and now BJ III in the 2020s instead of the 2140s, really all that time to rename one BJ? Also it explains how BJ III and Stan can cohexist.

They also made the "put in statis justification" so pick what you'll like best!

and also the tecnological progression makes the fight with the Strogg making much more sense.

So the new DOOM Timeline should be:

80.000 BCE - DOOM 64 - The Lost Levels (The Slayer experienced this events post-DOOM 64)
80.000 BCE - DOOM: The Dark Age (The Slayer experienced this events post-DOOM 64)
2020 - DOOM (1993)
2020 - SIGIL
2020 - SIGIL II
2020 - DOOM II: Hell on Earth
2020 - Master Levels for DOOM II
2020 - No Rest for the Living
2021 - TNT: Evilution
2021 - The Plutonia Experiment
2022 - Legacy of Rust
2145 - DOOM 3
2145 - DOOM 3 - The Lost Mission
2145 - DOOM: Resurrection
2145 - DOOM RPG
2146 - DOOM II RPG
2147 - DOOM 3 - Resurrection of Evil
2148 - DOOM 64
2149 - DOOM VFR
2149 - DOOM (2016)
2163 - DOOM: Eternal
2163 - DOOM: Eternal - The Ancient Gods, Part One
2163 - DOOM: Eternal - The Ancient Gods, Part Two

Basically you'll play all the DOOM + DOOM II games in between Quake I Enhanced and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars; and the rest after Quake 4. (We all know that they'll make a Quake I + Quake II, right?)

And that's all! What do you guys and girls think?

P.S. Actually The Lost Levels and The Dark Age, takes place 80.000 years ago, not 80.000 BCE, but we don't know that ago to what it refers, but for sure it's a post-2016 date. So either you do 2149-80.000 or 2163-80.000.

Wasn't it stated that the MachineGames Wolfenstein games are still canon to ALL of the old ones? I don't think there are any alternate continuities for these franchises tbh. In the trailer for the Commander Keen mobile game (which unfortunately was cancelled) we see the Keen household and on the wall is pictures of not only BJ but also his 2 daughters who are exclusive to the MachineGames series, meaning from IDs perspective they see all of Wolfenstein as canonical to Commander Keen and DOOM, not just the classic series. It's all 1 long canon. I would assume though that this means the Commander Keen series no longer occurs in the 90s and must happen a few decades later. Which is fine because iirc nothing actually says it's the 90s in the actual keen games

tho this would go against what the game manuals says about Blazko life after the war!

Simple retcon, that was only in a manual. I mean you've argued with me that a scene that's actually IN the God of War original game isn't canon anymore so this should be even less of an issue because it's not in the actual game

For Commander Keen, I just tought about that he has to be 8, which doesn't break the fact that it can happen in the 90s since the Blazko twins are both 19 in 1980, so let's say that the 1st game happens in 1990 the date Commander Keen 1 was released, then the Blazko twins would have been 21 when he was born in 1983, so I don't see why it has to be moved later in the timeline.

For Heretic/HeXen if we take into account that Simon just found Corvus' weapon after the events of Heretic II, then, the Heretic series should be set in the 10th century since we know that in that century magic was a thing, I'll talk about the elves later dw.

I placed Strife in 2029 according to Rage's timeline of an asteroid hitting earth, it happens in December 2029, so let's place the game in 2030.

I dated Ork & Elves thanks to the first known use of magic in the universe, also Heretic/Hexen confirms that elves comes from another planet, personally I think that a small amount of Elves lives on Earth compared to their planet, a war broke out with the Orks and then we get to Heretic/Hexen, with the defeat of the Serpents Riders and Heinrich, the age of magic ends and the elves with every magical creatures returns to their respective planets, and then history continues as irl history does.

for Rage you have to suspend your disbelif I admit it, but they reference the project from DOOM 3, so you must assume that after the catastrophe humans in 30 years were able to rebuild themselve, then the strogg weakened them, until we get to the times of Rage and DOOM 3 onwards.

What about Commander Keen 2 kids from the mobile game? There has to be an extra generation between the cancelled mobile game and Doom for it to work so doom has to be in like the 2040s or later right?

the one it was cancelled? I'd say nope. With this we're taking the IDEA behind it as being a singular universe to be canon, but not the whole thing, that is too much.

Not sure. I know it was cancelled but I feel like it's planned existence means ID sees Doom Guy is being 2 generations or more down the line from Keen rather than being Keen's son

tho those dates comes from recent surces (I actually used an older time source to extend the timeframe).

Final DOOM places every classic doom from 2022 to 2023:

https://doom.fandom.com/wiki/ID_timeline_(Doom_3_as_sequel)

SIGIL Places everything from 2020 to 2022:

https://doom.fandom.com/wiki/Sigil_timeline

and DOOM + DOOM II places everything in 2022:

https://doom.fandom.com/wiki/LRG_timeline

tbh I think SIGIL makes sense, dividing BJ III's adventures in 3 years would make it more believable than 2 or 1.

But at the same time, 2023 is the latest date.

and all this infos (aside for Final DOOM ofc) came out later then the mobile game sooo....

I decided to use SIGIL's dates cos, technically it's the newest thing since Hellion has yet to be released.

I also included comics, short stories, anything that I think it's canon to the universe.
