Mr Game & Watch is only in Smash and the G&W gallery games, so this wouldn't warrant an inclusion.

Also, just want to note that Game & Watch games look like how they do because they use LCD screens, however Mr Game & Watch just looks like that so someone appearing in a G&W game that bears some resemblance to Mr Game & Watch wouldn't mean it's necessarily Mr G&W

He even acts out the game and watch games in the end credits, like he morphs into the chef and stuff from the classic g&w versions. I know he was made up for smash but I think it's possible they retconned him into Game and Watch canon later on

The time frames just don't match up imo it has to be parallel universes with time dilation or else it all falls apart. Also games like Mario is Missing and Mario's Time Machine probably aren't canon because they weren't published by Nintendo, only licensed, they're not really on the same tier as the actually published games, they're never referenced in other material
Licensed can still count.

I suppose, just imo they don't really gel with the rest of the series. I still don't think Earth exists in the Mario universe as Mario's world is basically an "earth" more or less. The Earth seen in games like Mario Kart Tour should just be a parallel Earth or Earth-2 situation they travel to. I already gave my reasoning earlier with the floating Peach's castle thing

There are more sticky-outy games that are undeniably canon. I feel the Tennis games where you play as random humans and there's nothing Mario-related apart from the very end are less Mario-y, to name a few

Again, I feel portals being the major evidence for alternate universes seems unreasonable. It is very clear that the earlier Mario games intended the Mushroom Kingdom, Sarasaland, etc to be other locations on Earth, since a lot of arcade games were implied to be in New York. Obviously, this was retconned to New Donk, though things like Mario and Luigi living in Brooklyn for some of their life, and there being games set on actual Earth, it seems Nintendo is implying two separate worlds in one universe, connected by a portal. At the very least, the Mushroom World is not meant to be its own version of Earth - that'd be like saying Legend of Zelda takes place on an alternate Earth because there are humans

There actually is evidence Zelda takes place on an alternate earth. You can see IRL Constellations in the sky and they're in the exact location they'd be if you viewed them from Earth. Also Aounuma and Miyamoto said in an interview once that the Zelda planet is called Earth

Yes, this was what I was saying. The other Game & Watch games don't imply characters look like LCD, and including every G&W game because Mr Game & Watch can become different G&W characters would be unintuitive, especially since other G&W games are already on the timeline. You can't just pick and choose which games are actual Mario canon, and which are Mr Game & Watch transforming into different things

The modern versions are with Mario, the classic versions are with Mr G&W, simple. You literally can select both styles in the gallery games.

Again, the G&W art style is due to technological limitations, Mr G&W is based off that. I'm not adding G&W games because Mr G&W exists, since he doesn't appear in any of them and his ability to morph does not imply he is everything in every G&W game

Sticker Star should go after Paper Jam technically. Since Paper Jam gives origins for stuff like Bowser's flying castle and a specific Goomba attack that shows up later in Sticker Star

Also is there a reason tennis and golf are put between Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros? Mario Maker implies those games happened back to back so most likely no games should go in-between I think

Btw another thing I forgot, Mario Run should probably be moved to after Princess Peach Showtime. The game later had updates that added statues of Peach from that game (as well as Wonder Flowers from Mario Wonder), I'm not sure if there's other stuff from later games shown like brothership or not, haven't checked for those but I'm sure on the previous 2

That Game keeps getting statues that reference upcoming games, it's kinda a Mario Tour situation. I'm not putting Run at the very end every time a new game releases

Mario Kart Tour hasn't received new characters or courses in almost 3 years now. I think you should keep moving it if they add content from later games as it wouldn't make sense in canon otherwise. Mario Run will presumably stop getting updates eventually as most phone games stop getting updated eventually

What I currently have is a simplified timeline. This is the simplest way to consume all content chronologically. The bulk of Mario Run takes place where I have it, so I won't move it away from its intended placement simply because of some statues that get added every time there's a new game.

What I plan on doing is a detailed timeline. This is the most detailed way to consume all content chronologically, moving flashbacks, flashforwards, scenes, levels, etc to their respective placements. I will use this to show the Mario Run statues' more accurate placements (shortly after each game they're based off) but will keep the bulk of the game at its intended placement

That's fair. Maybe the Toad Rallies kept going after the main events of Run and stuff since that has newer game references too

How does Mario Maker imply that? Also, it's based on release dates

The official course made by Nintendo called "did somebody call a plumber?" It's a recreation of levels from both games and the Mario Bros portion leads into SMB, I believe the course description even confirms that's what's happening but I'm not 100% sure. It was mentioned on Sean's timeline

Another thing that timeline video you're basing this off of got wrong: the Bowser and DK in Skylanders aren't Skylanders. They are the actual Bowser and DK from Mario. There's a tie in comic that explains they got sent to the Skylanders world through a portal created by the machine Kaos was using

Great, guess I'm including Skylanders…
If I'm including Skylanders, I gotta include Spyro too, not sure about Crash though, think that was a separate character?

Crash is canon, the Thumpin Wumpa Islands dlc for Skylanders is the same Crash from the classic games. They even mention Spyro being an old friend due to the Crash Spyro Gameboy crossover game. Although obviously Spyro in Skylanders is a separate Spyro from Classic Spyro, although they may share a universe due to the Spyro reincarnation thing

I'm pretty sure Crash is a parallel universe to Skylanders/Spyro though. I think you could probably just say Skylanders is a parallel universe to Mario and Crash is parallel to Spyro. They're all the same multiverse but not the same universe and thus you'd only need to include the tie in comic and Skylanders Superchargers on the Mario timeline since that's the only time Mario characters interact with that universe

Also this is mostly a joke but if you're including Fight Night will you include the Burger King games since the Burger King is a trainer in the Fight Night series lol (please don't do this because the food mascot shared universe is an entirely different can of worms that may or may not be set on Earth-616 because of the Kool Aid Man comics)

Well, MacDonald's have also collabed with both the Mario game series and Illumination movie, so its safe to say they're not canon. I don't think Kool Aid would have a chance to connect, TBH, though with stuff like that in commercials I'd say they're separate to what they're collabing with. Though I will consider the Burger King games...... maybe...

I did a quick search on the Crossover Wiki and they didn't have many Kool Aid connections, and the few they did have were all parodies. However, they didn't have Marvel either, so take that info with a pinch of salt
