Avengers New Avengers discussion (#1-20; spoilers)

Avengers didn't capture him. The last we saw of that fight was Wrecker squared off against Spider-Woman.

I already forgot what happened in Toxin, whether he was apprehended or not.

Thanks, E. I only Byre-read it at the shop. I kind of assumed that the team could take him down. Go figure. Toxin does apprehand them. The only problem with it is that for some reason the writer dosen't show a lot of the fights in toxin. Most of the issues have been like this, with Toxin saying I'm bringing you in and then the next panel having captured them.

I'm wondering if we will get the entire Wrecking Crew, or a good chunk of them anyway.

this was a great issue and i loved the art.

but the part with the wrecker and the collecters daughter reminded me of a porno

I'll tell u what I didn't like about that part. Too many times do we see the girl in a bathing suit or in a bra or something when the bad guys come and they don't give her time to get changed. It's just unnessesary and feels old to me.

Would you have let her change?

Kind of going off what JB said...I mean, it makes sense that he wouldn't let her change or put regular clothes on. If he did, that would taint the story, because no way a hardened criminal creep like that (uh, pardon the pun) would say, "Ok, yeah, why don't you cover up."

OK, I checked up on the Toxin thing and I forget the time ref that The Answer made in # 3. The capture of the Wreker takes place 6 months after the Raft incident so every thing is ok in my continuity combobulated brain.

Well there's the thing. I mean how about if one of these villains wasn't just muscle and actually was an intelligent person. Instead of being like "I've been locked away for a while. Me horny!" Why can't a guy just be like I'm too busy working on getting my act together instead of thinking about getting ***. They were at her house I'm sure all he'd have to do was look in one extra room to grab her a shirt. It's not like he was in a hurry, he didn't know the NA were gonna show up.

Right, because he wanted to wait while she got dressed. He didnt want to hurry up and get somewhere he thought he would be safe in.

"No, no. Take your time. Just looking at your latest Vouge Magazine, here."

A T-shirt is all it took is what I'm saying.
But the thing is that villains wont give a **** if someone is dressed or not if all they're doing is trying to hurry up and get out of somewhere.

please clearer . if i had a hostage i wouldn't let them out of my sight that's how the cops get called and weapons get hidden under cloths

You obviously don't have a clue as to what I'm saying here... Does anyone else hear what I'm saying or should I try to make myself clearer?
I'M the one who "obviously" doesnt have a clue? No, I'd say its you. If you have to explain, than nothing is obvious.

Another good point. Good one shadow.

So MWF, please, make us clueless, non-obvious people as to what you're trying to say, because none of it is making any damn sense, except to you.

Well Ice, all you had to say is "I don't understand". Your two posts just contradict themselves.

What I'm trying to point out is that Wrecker's dialogue was typical. The whole line about being in prison, that is. Why can't we have a villain whose not a big thug and actually is a villain with some class. It's not unheard of. If you want to go on saying "he was in a hurry" that's fine, but he didn't know the Ultimates were coming and since he's so arrogant about his crowbar/powers than why should he care if anyone was coming? Still, that wasn't the point. I wasn't talking about his situation as much as I was talking about his character.

Of course its typical, (and by the way, AVENGERS not Ultimates. I know you're exicted for next week, I can see.), but its what we got. A villian with class is not unheard of, but its also not the wrecker, either. He didnt know that the Avengers were coming, but since when does not knowing if someone is coming really stopped anyone from hurrying up? He probably cares if someone is coming cuz most villians rather avoid and get away than have a fight, whether they have something powerful or not.

Every single one of Bendis' characters talks and reacts the same to every situation, considering he has like five characters. "Villain Man", "Hero Man", "Unsure Man", "Authority Figure Man", and "Confident Woman Man".

Jeez, I love the Sentry and McNiven and tried to like the issue - but dear God. Wrecker is just like every villain BMB has ever done. The speech patterns are always the same. "I have the power of a God!" Every time he says that I just thought, "no you don't. You have a ****ing enchanted crow bar." I'd like it more if these god-like villains did something god-like rather than just run away when someone broke them out of prison. I get the idea Wrecker is tootin' his own horn, but then "Villain Man" always does.

And of course, we have all the powerful superheroes meet up and instead of being awe-stricken, it was dull considering that they just say around and had a bit of a chinwag. It's just a goddamn soap opera.

All talking. All coincidental action. All meaningless. All bollocks. All the time.

I bow to you Bass, you wrote exactly what i think about Bendis lol

My thought - first, this is OK because it's not out of character for the villains that act this way. Reading your posts, I don't think that's your complaint, at least if I'm reading it right, but I'm just saying it's not the writer, unless you want to blame him for the characters he uses.

Second - this behavior (dumb thug) was the norm for a lot of characters in the 70s and 80s - and a lot (most or all, actually) of the villains that escaped are these types of characters. Characters that you can tell Bendis had a hankering to write.

Third - if a villain was "classier" he most likely wouldn't need to break into some guy's house to get his lame costume back. He'd be able to think of something else.

That's just it though. Bendis takes DD rogues and uses them brilliantly and modernizes them in Daredevil. I'm aware of what era these villains come from but it kind of took me back not seeing Bendis put the effort into these characters as he would in other titles.

The costume was in the house. What other options would he have?
