Is anyone reading The Nightly News? It looks interesting at least, the style it's done in. I skimmed the first issue but didn't read it.

Anyone?

Re: The Nightly News (no spoilers yet)

I have read the first two issues. Its different than any other comic I've read but I like it. The way it is told throughout the issue is definitely cool.

What's it about?

Tell me more about it.

Re: The Nightly News (no spoilers yet)

A cult called "The Brotherhood of the VOICE" is trying to rise up against the media by means of assassination, and other violent acts to show people how their point of views are being manipulated. They are led by "the VOICE", and consist of other ranks as well. They view all reporters and other media affiliates as the enemy.

They explain throughout the book the wrongdoings of the government, and show facts with graphs, and boxes that will say: "the VOICE says:" and then tells the VOICE's opinion on the reasoning for the subject. for example : "the VOICE says: The primary goal of education is to infect your children with the malady of subordination."

The book was a little hard to follow for me at first (maybe because of my reading level), but I found it to be well thought out and constucted.

Hope that helps.

It does - I really appreciate that.

I'll probably pick it up this week.

Hope you can find it. My LCS is very limited for this series. Only those that have it on their pull list usually get their hands on it. At my LCS at least. Yours might have it since you saw it.

I didn't have it on my pull list; #3 was the first I'd heard of it. The closest LCS to me is pretty good about getting a good variety of books, so I might have a chance.

Re: The Nightly News (no spoilers yet)

I picked up the first 3 issues and have read the first two.

VVD - I think this is something you would dig.

It's really good...the visual style is very unique and aesthetically it's very cool looking, but that's just a bonus. The story is very cool...it's got kind of a Fight Club vibe to it. Basically it's about a group of people who decide to hold the media responsible for the damage they do turning news into entertainment.

It is NOT a Fight Club rip off though.

It's got all kinds of cool factoids about various things scattered all throughout the book that tie in to the story.

Anyway, very highly recommended.

Read #3 today. It is screwed up.

Is it really only M-11 and me reading this? It's fantastic. I think TOG and VVD would like it...

Re: The Nightly News (no spoilers yet)

I'm in need of something new to read, so I may have to get this.

Re: The Nightly News (no spoilers yet)

I skipped over this thread before....but then E sent me a PM recommending it.

After reading the basic idea of it----I'm intrigued. So I'll definitely be checking this out.

Re: The Nightly News (no spoilers yet)

I dug it. It is hard to follow and it is a lot of information to take in. But the style and layout works with the story and it is very original in terms of ideas.

The social commentry of it is very right on with a lot of points and really gets you thinking to how big the media really is.

I do recommend this.

Did you read all 3 issues? Things start coming together mid-way through the 2nd issue and start to make a lot more sense.

The factoids take some getting used to as far as interrupting the story but are cool nonetheless.

Yeah I did. And it does come together. But it still a lot to absorb.

This is one that will require multiple reads.

Re: The Nightly News (no spoilers yet)

Bad news - looks like #4 will be rescheduled. They don't even have a date for it.

Erm...

NIGHTLY NEWS #4 (OF 6) DEC061886 TBD

Doesn't TBD mean "to be determined"? As in, cancelled?

Because I just picked this up today....

Re: The Nightly News (no spoilers yet)

I just picked up #2-4 yesterday and #1 is on order and will be waiting for me on Saturday.

So I should be all caught up by Monday ready to discuss.
