Is anyone else reading this? I think it's just as good as JLA right now and the characters are great. What I'm excited about are the little teasers they gave us at the end of issue 1 with the JLA/JSA team-up, Kal-L returning, The Leagion of Superheroes and KINGDOM COME!

Re: Justice Society of America

I've been enjoying it more than JLA.

Re: Justice Society of America

Its great. Better than JLA by far. I love all the Legion references, probably because I just got a great deal on the Legion archives (80%off) and I'm digging through them now. All the Kingdom Come moments are great too.

Oh, and the Dr with no face? Dr. Destiny. I'm calling it right now.

Re: Justice Society of America

Anything with the new Starman is great.

Re: Justice Society of America

I am the biggest Legion freak, seriously. I was a little weary of having Mordru and stuff in the last JSA comic, but after what Waid's been doing to the book, seeing the classic characters again just puts a gigantic smile on my face. You have no idea. This is the best thing ever.

Re: Justice Society of America

I just recently started reading this, and it's really good. Seriously, I was pretty opposed to any DC teams that weren't the JLA before, but I actually like this book.

Who knew.

The last run was just as good. All the 52 Black Adam stuff was set up there.

Re: Justice Society of America

#3 came out, Geoff Jones is the man. So the issue starts off with Stargirl and Cyclone (Maxine Hunkell) designing an interesting costume. Then the Nazi villains (the 4th Reich) are attacking Commander Steel's family and kill everyone but the one without a leg (Nate?). Hawkman fights them off and the metal Nazi spits up liquid metal on Nate and it starts covering his body. Wildcat has some more conversation with his son and it cuts back to the JSA finding out more about Mr. AMerica's death. Hawkman brings Heywood in and Dr. Mid-Nite starts examening him. Then the Sandman shows up and tells them that descendents of the Society are being attacked. They go off to save Liberty bell and S.T.R.I.P.E.S. and Dr. Mid-Nite and Mr. Terrific talk about Heywood and Mr. America. Wildcat and son are attacked by the one behind it all Vandal Savage and Wildcat Jr/ attacks Vandal Savage as the big cat from Kingdom Come. A 4.99/5 from Johns again. Why can't Marvel have writers like this?

Goods:
Heywood's going to become Commander Steel
More Hawkman, Starman and Damage
The Sandman
Wildcat Jr.
VANDAL SAVAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bads:
They didn't really show anything about Kingdom Come other than Wildcat's son.

Re: Justice Society of America

Vandal Savage? Sweet. This is my first exposure to him in the DC Universe.

I thought Wildcat's son turning into a cat person was kind of lame though. I hope it's explained somehow.

Vandal Savage is WAY dope.... He's easily one of the DCU's best villains.

He's also a bad guy in Secret Six, which, if you haven't picked up, you NEED to.

I thought it was pretty lame too. I kind of liked the idea that Wildcat's son was just a regular kid.

They better do a damn good job explaining why Wildcat's son just happens to be able to turn into.... uuhh.... a wild cat.

Ted probably "loved" a cat person at some point in one of his nine lives.

By the way, Wildcat having nine lives had better be retconned out by Infinite Crisis.

He's on his last one, methinks...

But its definitely still a part of continuity... This is the same Ted Grant who fought in WW2... and issue three mentions him having had a kid in the 60's

Wildcat, jr. is sexy.

MUCH better than JLA at the moment.

Who called it! That's right, I did!

I didn't see Dream Girl coming though.

And did anyone else notice how much Sand's new mask is a mix of the Golden Age Sandman and the Helm of Dream with all those ridges?

It's definitely got a Vertigo look to it. Very cool design.

Re: Justice Society of America

At the end of the last issue. It showed Dr. Destiny with Dream Girl (The Original Legion version) chained up behind him.

Oh damn! A Sandman villain, yeah. I forgot all about that panel.
