Marvels

I don't doubt his talent for drawing superheroes like real people, I just don't like the 'look' of the real people he draws. They're just always 'too' perfect and amazing-looking. They don't look like they could assimilate into real life at all.

Interestingly, he goes very much against that grain in this story. I don't deny he usually makes the JLA looks like how you're describing(though I like that), but here, pretty much everybody looks like as average a schmoe as you could imagine. First off, the story is told mainly from the point of view of normal citizens, like the middle-aged Phil Sheldon and his wife, and second, the superheroes are rarely seen out-of-costume(Peter Parker appears in ONE scene, very much a cameo).

While Ross' traditional atmospheric style is all there, the people themselves look pretty normal in this one.

Except for Gwen Stacy, who looks so radiant she may have glided down from heaven, but hey, would you expect any less?
