X-Men Cinematic Universe - Timeline (Revised & Original)

That line can be more or less disregarded. Logan was intended to be a standalone film based on the Xmen films so anything they did for world building is relatively redundant. Deadpool and Wolverine retroactively added it to the same continuity (more or less, branches or whatever), so we shouldn't necessarily take it at face value, especially considering DP&W prevents Logan from happening. I don't like Logan being part of the same universe because it ruins the great ending of DoFP. Yes, Logan gets a somewhat happy ending but it ruins the true happy ending that the former film gave us.

This same thing happened with Superman Returns. It was made as an homage to the original Reeve series but became retroactively added to the same continuity. It causes slight problems but they can be generally overlooked because that was not the intention of that piece of work to begin with.

James Mangold (the director) has made explicit suggestions that it is set after X-Men: Days of Future Past. Also, we don't know if Deadpool & Wolverine prevented Logan from happening yet.

Yeah, that I do somewhat agree with.

I'm new to this website but I just wanted to share something I've been working on for a while now. This document is a complete day by day breakdown of all 14 X-Men movies (or it will be once I've finished it). As well as attempting to fix every single continuity error I could think of. To do this I had to cheat a little and say certain movies are in separate timelines but I came up with theories for how those timelines were created and how it can still work with the logic set up in DP&W.
Basically my timeline goes like this:

Timeline 1
Origins
X1
X2
X3
The Wolverine
Logan

Timeline 2
First Class
DOFP
Apocalypse
Dark Phoenix
New Mutants

Timeline 3
Deadpool trilogy

I explain all this in immense detail in this document

Yeah, that I do somewhat agree with.
why did you guys put Logan in September? I have it there too but I wanna know what your reasoning was.

No it was a September date on an evidence bag Boyd Holbrook was looking at after they patched their wounds and saw were the mutant kids where headed towards the film's climax.

I still don't understand why Earth-10005 isn't treated the same as the Earth-616 designation. To me, Earth-10005's number even being used seems similar enough to the MCU's diverged realities being numbered as "616-??" (or something along those lines) in Loki, which, if anything, suggests that the number is because Deadpool could be from a 10005 reality, not the 10005 reality. A branched timeline that the TVA catalogues as being the same number but a variation of it.
Yes! This is exactly my theory too. There's even evidence in the movie to support it too.

Have another look at the bag though, the actual date of collection is 11/5/25 and it was transferred to somewhere on 9/19/25. Even if you ignore the top date and the year, the bottom date still doesn't line up with the fact that the day they had to meet at Eden was a Friday. So best just to ignore this and assume it was a reused bag. I put it in early September because of the corn harvesting season.

I found this March 16th date in X2 (top left corner). I used this date to place the second movie in my version of the timeline. X1 has to be early November to avoid it being in the complete dead of winter.

I don't know if anyone here has read the novelisations of the first 2 movies but heres what I found in regards to the timeline. The X1 novel repeatedly refers to the time period as being winter, it also describes Jean as being in her early 30's. The X2 novel refers to the first movie multiple times as having happened 'months ago'. It also said that the night Mystique injects the guard with iron was a Saturday. We know this happened the night before Magneto's prison escape which is where the March 16th date was found. This would therefore make it Sunday March 16th which fits perfectly in 2003.

Thanks!

why would it need to match a real world summit?
it doesnt need to necessarily, but the xmen movies always leaned into tying real-world history into their narratives, vs say the mcu, so the more in-line the better imo, but it doesnt really matter at the end of the day

That seems like too big of a gap in my opinion. Has to be no more than 3 or 4 months based on Charles saying "almost 15 years" in the first movie and Stryker saying "15 years" in the second one.

Not that the novels really matter but in the X2 novel on one occasion it says something like "just a few short months ago" in relation to the first movie.

I noticed you changed your dates for X2 but you have it slightly off, the day of magneto's prison escape should be the 16th and the main day that the X-Men infiltrate alkali lake should be the 17th March. Sorry to nit pic.
Okay I'll adjust.
