Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

Finally got this issue.

...

I got nothing. I seriously, have to reread it again and dig out the other issues because it's been so long I don't remember any of the side characters all that well.

So....what a 4 month wait period for next issue?

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

I had a dream last night where Iron Man forced the Runaways into becoming Agents of SHIELD by going back in time, saving Gert, and strapping her to a nuclear bomb.

And Chase had Spot's powers for some reason.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

Introducing all these new characters was a terrible, terrible idea. Ryan did a great job designing them all, but all their fiddly new costumes are the reason for the absurd art delays and fitting all the cameos in is slowing down the story to a glacial pace. And he introduced all that continuity-bending Kingpin and Punisher stuff only to drop it and have them run to the past. Whedon shouldn't have done something this ambitious for only six issues.

Go ambitious regardless of size or length...just make it COMPELLING!

I have no reason to care for these new characters and so I don't.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

Yes and Yes.

But it'll just be one digest, and then hopefully the book will get back on its feet.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

I know. But there's only six issue with this creative team, and I think only two left (though I've forgotten, they take so long to come out).

I wish Adam Warren was taking over the book.

There are two left? I simultaneously wish that their run could be over and wish they had more issues to type up all the loose ****ing ends and justify the presence of every guest star in this arc.

Jeez I hope this reads better in digest form.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

I've decided that Ultron decided to forego giving Victor hormones because they'd be too complicated. Instead, he created an algorithm to identify sufficiently attractive straight women and programmed Vic to drop 50 IQ points every time he got within ten feet of one of them.

That sounds like a normal teenage boy to me.... except for the hormone part of course.

Obviously, Ultron could use this to his advantage:

Ultron: Hey, son! I've got this new job being leader of the Phalanx! Wanna join me in my quest for universal destruction?

Victor: Of course not!

Ultron: Well, if that's your decision...shame though...Gamora was really looking forward to meeting you...as were all those space amazons we just converted...

Vicotr: Sold!

Considering that the adult heroes will handle the Secret Invasion with the same restraint, diplomacy and care that they treated Civil War, if I were the Runaways I would have Xavin practice that invisibility power some more and tell everyone she died or, better yet, got lost in the past. That way, when it all blows over, they can just go "Hey, everyone, look who showed up again! Somehow!"

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

So, holy ****.

I want to get that two-page spread of the brawl painted on my bedroom wall. It's that pimp.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

Well, this has been the single worst arc of a comic written by a brilliant writer, that I've ever read.

One more issue left and this comic's mind numbingly bad. If Whedon's run went on for any longer I would drop this book. That's how dull this book is.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

I did too until it arrived in the mail yesterday. I also forgot the plot and had to dig out the other issues...which I sorta thumbed through because it was dull and overloaded with lifeless nameless characters who come and go as if we're supposed to care.

And they all speak...well here's a bit from page 12 of the latest issue:

Creeper (Tom Thumb sized little dude with no power other than talk in small fonts): Honest, Megan, I think the Swell's bein' overly rubbed about these pups.

Megan: Nah. He's got it right, Creeper; they're trouble. Buncha mission stiffs actin' stuck-up as avenoodles. And this is a time for knowing your place.

Creeper: This form the girl that put six bulls in the hospital for callin' her a tom.

Megan: There's gonna be a big noise 'tween the Sinners and the Upward Path. Those bums are gonna put us right in the middle of it.

Creeper: Then we'll slip right through, same as we always.

This doesn't stop. Everyone talks like that. It gets more than annoying and it makes reading a pain.

Plus, in this issue Whedon makes Xavin a girl. No more back and forth-ness. Nope. Xavin's a girl and she just didn't know it.

Otherwise, the art's nice.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

Okay, no one remembers me, but I don't care.

I LOVE Runaways. So much that the moment I finished my downloaded #29, I subscribed.

Everyone has said it before why Runaways is great, so I won't repeat them. Just that I don't understand why everyone hates what Whedon is doing. So what if the side characters will be those we'll never care about or see again? That's the same way with the New Pride, but hell, that was a hell of an arc anyways!

I can't wait for the last two issues. Bring it on!

Seeing that they have a SI tie-in i worry for xavin.

Hell, maybe he/she even knew about it.

Two?! TWO!?!

I thought Whedon only had one more left...

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

I still can't believe how incredibly boring Whedon's run is on this. It's plain mindnumbing.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

Well, I can rest assured knowing that I am thoroughly enjoying this arc. :)

Describe to me, as if I were a child, what you enjoy about this arc. Please?

Me?

I liked the first issue. I liked the death of Creeper and Megan. I liked Molly punching Punisher. That's it.
