Did anybody else see that Reed said he was 18 in this book? I could have sworn he was 19 or 21.....
I noticed this as well. I could swear Reed was older than 18. Is this just Bendis laziness or am I mistaken? I thought he was 21. It's been driving me nuts since I read it.

Same here...I hate when age and height (Wolverine) inconsistencies happen. They annoy me for some reason....

Re: Ultimate Power #1 Discussion (Spoilers)

The big two pages splash that introduced Squadron Supreme was so freaking awsome. I only wish it could have been longer. Only 22 pages for the first issue?

Re: Ultimate Power #1 Discussion (Spoilers)

Liked it good start to the series if you ask me !!

Reed is definately older than 18 though as the first 2 issues of UFF show how many years have passed since his birth to present day so thats a bit of an error and I think the book fits into continuity round about the Defenders storyline in Ultimates ( but i guess we'll wait and see)

Artwork was excellent and I think you need a dialogue heavy opener to a miniseries else we wouldn't have a clue what was going on later !! Plus if they didn't think Bendis was the best guy to open the series then one of the other two would have done it Bendis's style suits the opening issues of these types of things !!

I know nothing about the supreme universe so the last pages really gave me the s***s as ELEVEN (count them) super powered beings of unknown origin bursting into the world cant be a good thing !!

Overall thought it was a good start so I say 3.5/5

PS : Cant wait for JMS he is one of my all time favourite writers B5 is the greatest thing ever !!

This was horrible.
Judging from the dialouge, either Hulk is out rampaging again after Ultimates 3 or Bendis just made yet another cruddy continuity error.
*sigh*

Re: Ultimate Power #1 Discussion (Spoilers)

"Hey that guy just tossed a ball to our world. Let's destroy his universe."

Amazing art. Good dialogues and characterization of the UFF. Bad idea.

2.75/5 - I was surprised it didn't suck as much as I tought it would, even so, I still think it's a bad idea, especially if they kill someone.

Well remember how they were talking about the Butterfly effect? Maybe when they sent it it changed something drastically over there. Or maybe it got in the barrel of a cannon and when it shot it set off a chain reaction of explosions. We will just have to see....

Re: Ultimate Power #1 Discussion (Spoilers)

I agree it was a bad idea but why don't you give them some time to flesh the details out before you judge the concept of "just some ball to another dimension."

I will. I know the butterfly effect will have something to do with it too. That ball probably did some damage in the world. Or maybe Hyperion is just paranoid. Anyway, this is just what I tought first.
But I still don't know if I'll get the next issue. I love Land's art, but I don't like this idea.

You're not alone Quicksilver, it's a BAD BAD IDEA. And I won't read it, whatever lasting effects this mini has will be adressed in the main books.

I'm just back in the comic scene after a 15+ year hiatus, so forgive me for the possibly stupid question, but is Bendis known for making sloppy errors of this sort? I'm basically just reading the Ultimate line right now, so from what I've read it seems to me he is prone to making continuity mistakes.

He wears a crown that says "King of Continuity Errors".

It even reflects off of his shiny head for added effect.

Its actualy kind of impressive how he's managed to write 2 books in the Ultimate Line (only two) and be unable to keep the continuity of them anywhere close without us jumping through hoops to make it work.

And jump we do...

EDIT - Reposting my rant from the X-men 75 thread over here.

I'm going to channel Bass and tell you that Ultiamte Power was total crap. We had the FF battle a group of impossible proportioned women (with signature Land Pornstar facial expressions) untill The Thing gets hurt, allowing us to pull out that old chestnut of a plot device of Reed messing up to fix Ben. Its not even a clever adaptation of said plot device. Then we have a flashback to a bad line from Bendis's run (yeah, took ya this long to **** me, I'll let you have an equal amont to fix me), then a splash page of the squadron supreme. If you've never read Supreme Power (and I'm guessing most people buying this haven't it does no where near Ultiamte Level sales) then you've got no idea who these people are, and no hook to keep you on for the next issue. We should have had atleast SOME interaction with the teams in this. Not just a poorly paced cliffhanger.

Let's count Bendis's Ultimate books. Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, Ultimate Power. Right, that's two.

Well, I completly missed my mark there. Still, bringing in Team Up makes for even more hoops, and I wasn't couinting Power. Just wasn't. Nyeh. :p

Re: Ultimate Power #1 Discussion (Spoilers)

No one - and I mean NO ONE - draws hotties batter than Land.

On that alone, I give this issue 3/5.

land is a untalented hack. want proof? Ultimate power #1 page 3 second pannel (Ben grim ) -> page 4 first panel (ben grim) seems familiar?

i swear to god i could find that very same face AT LEAST 40 times in the entire UFF series.

more proof? turn to page 14 panel 3: thats not ultimate reed! thats harrison ford.

greg land cant draw ****. he just traces famous ppl! i hate him! dont buy this book!!!!:furious: :arrgh: :furious:
